Marjon Mirbaha, L.Ac., Dipl., O.M.
Marjon discovered the benefits of acupuncture while receiving treatments herself and wanted to share this effective method with others. She pursued her vision by completing the four-year graduate program and clinical practice at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. She holds a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, with an emphasis on Orthopedics and Physical Medicine.
Marjon is a licensed Acupuncturist and Nationally Certified Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. She is a member of the American Association of Oriental Medicine, the Oregon Acupuncture Association, AIMS (Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine Specialists) and is a certified practitioner of NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique). Also Certified in Massage Therapy and Chinese Tui Na, Marjon serves on the Advisory Board of the Central Oregon Community College Massage School.
While working as a volunteer massage therapist at a clinic for low-income women with cancer, Kym Garrett was first introduced to Chinese Medicine. She was inspired by all that Chinese medicine was doing to support the women while they were undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. After doing some research and opening her mind to complementary forms of medicine, Kym decided to apply to school for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Kym studied at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine where her training included extensive studies in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, dietary nutrition and body work including Tui Na and shiatsu. During her final year at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine, Kym spent one month studying in China at the Wan Zhou School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She was fortunate enough to study alongside well-known Chinese orthopedic doctors and specialists. Kym’s experience in China taught her specific techniques for treating various musculoskeletal problems and most importantly gave her a deep appreciation of the history and present day applications of acupuncture in China, where it is used to treat its large population with great success.
Since completing her studies Kym has worked with a variety of patients, including many with chronic and acute pain, digestive disorders, depression, menopausal symptoms, weight loss and stress. Additionally, Kym has dedicated a portion of her practice to working with patients undergoing western medical treatments for cancer. She has spent a great deal of time studying the benefits of Chinese medicine for people with cancer. As a result of her own personal experience with cancer when she was 18, Kym has committed herself to improving the well being of patients with cancer through the integrative use of Chinese medicine. Kym is a firm advocate for integrative medicine. “I believe the best medicine is integrative medicine where Western and Chinese Medicine are practiced side by side. Only through supporting the whole person can we expect patients to achieve and maintain maximum health.”
Kym is a nationally licensed Acupuncturist and is licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners to practice acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
