"Before I became an acupuncturist, I was a patient of acupuncture amazed with the results acupuncture brought me after years of the wear and tear on my body from competitive sports. With an orthopedic surgeon for a father and a nurse for a mother, I'd always had an interest in the healing arts. You could say I grew up in medicine, and when I began to think about a lifelong career, that background coupled with my own experience with acupuncture, drew me toward Traditional Chinese Medicine."
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Colorado State University and working for a few years in Los Angeles, I decided to pursue my dream of working in medicine. I left my job in Los Angeles and moved to San Francisco to attend the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I completed the four year graduate program in 2004 with a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition, I completed a one-year course in orthopedic acupuncture at Lerner Education at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
"My husband, Brian and I moved to Bend in September 2004, and I started Mountain View Acupuncture, LLC in March 2005. Now that I have been in practice for a number of years, I know with certainty that I made the right career decision. I love working with patients to achieve their healthcare goals and feel honored to be a part of their healing process. Thirty years from now I still want to be practicing. It's my passion--along with my daughter Leila."
"Since Leila's birth in 2008, my interest in women's health issues has become stronger. I have completed several courses on treating infertility with acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbs. Over the next few years, I would love to see Mountain View Acupuncture, LLC help more and more women overcome infertility and other problems."
"In my spare time, when I'm not reading about the latest findings on health, wellness, and supplementation, I enjoy my life with Leila and Brian. Before moving to Bend, I had lived and worked in California, attended college in Colorado, and had grown up in St. Louis. When Brian and I moved to Bend after he accepted a position with Deschutes Brewery, we thought we would be here for five years. Now, six years later, we know that we are here to stay and are enjoying raising Leila in such a wonderful community. I am learning to cross-country and downhill ski, as well as, enjoy hiking, yoga and consider myself quite the movie buff."

A certified practitioner of Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET), she is also certified in massage therapy and Tui Na, a form of Chinese manipulative therapy.
"I was introduced to Chinese medicine while volunteering as a massage therapist at a clinic for low-income women with cancer. Seeing what traditional Chinese medicine was doing to aid those undergoing chemotherapy and radiation was inspirational, and I began to do some research on integrative medicine. What I learned opened my mind to complementary forms of medicine, and the decision to study Traditional Chinese Medicine was made.
"At Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine, my training included extensive work in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, dietary nutrition, and body work. During my final year at Santa Barbara, I spent a month studying in China alongside well-known Chinese orthopedic doctors and specialists at the Wan Zhou School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. There I learned techniques for treating various musculoskeletal problems and most importantly gained a deep appreciation of the history and present day applications of acupuncture in China where it is used with great success.
"Since completing my studies, I have worked with a variety of patients, including those with chronic and acute pain, digestive disorders, depression, menopausal symptoms, weight loss and stress. I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 18, and because of this experience an important part of my practice has been working with patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments for cancer. I've spent a great deal of time studying the benefits of Chinese medicine for people with cancer and have become convinced of its efficacy for improving their well being. I believe the best medicine is one that integrates both Western and Chinese Medicine. Only through supporting the whole person can we expect patients to achieve and maintain maximum health.
"I moved to Bend in 2005 for the mountains and the small-town living. Mountain biking, snowboarding, and skate skiing are things I love to do. In 2009, I helped start a dog rescue organization called All For Dogs Rescue of Central Oregon, and it has become one of the most satisfying things I have ever been a part of.”

"As a Portland native, Angela is proud to bring the art of Chinese Medicine to Central Oregon! “I’m very excited to be in Bend…beautiful weather, kind people, an great energy all the way around!”
Having been fortunate enough to live next to a wellness center, Angela began seeing an acupuncturist for stress relief from her corporate America job. Her eyes were opened to the beauty and efficacy of Eastern medicine and she decided to alter her path toward a more rewarding heart-felt career in Chinese Medicine.
Angela earned her Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine at nationally accredited Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. “One of the many aspects of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) that I adore is the relationship that is built between the patient and practitioner. That is the cornerstone for success!” Angela approaches each individual as such – an individual. There is no cookie cutter remedy. She strives to develop professional relationships with all her clients which takes time, trust and honesty.
Angela has taken specialized courses in Japanese style acupuncture which is a gentler approach for those with needle sensitivity. Not everyone will respond the same to acupuncture so it is important to have the tools necessary to meet each individual’s need. While acupuncture is the most widely used tool in TCM, Angela also employs other modalities such as essential oils, cupping, Shiatsu, moxa and herbal recommendations to facilitate the healing process.
When Angela is not in the office, she is out in the community spreading the good word of alternative medicine…or spending ample time in/on the water! She came to Bend with her kayak and together they have made friends with the surrounding lakes and the great Deschutes River. “The dog parks and hiking trails are amazing here – my dog, Jalaya and I are very happy!”
