In Oregon, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is a part of every auto insurance policy by law, and it covers reasonable and necessary medical expenses, including acupuncture, after an auto accident, regardless of who was at fault.

Here’s how it typically works for acupuncture:

No Referral Needed

You do not need a doctor’s referral to receive acupuncture. Simply provide your claim # and adjuster name and phone # and we will give them a call. All other documentation can be added to your case file but is not needed in advance for you to receive treatment for your auto accident related injuries.

Direct Billing

We will directly bill the insurance company so you don’t pay upfront.

No Deductible or Copay

With PIP, you shouldn’t owe anything out of pocket until you exhaust your PIP limit.

Coverage Limit

Oregon PIP usually offers a minimum of $15,000 per person for medical expenses within the first 2 years after the accident. Some policies may offer higher limits depending on your coverage.

Acupuncture is Covered

Acupuncture is recognized as a reimbursable medical treatment under Oregon PIP and you do not need a doctor’s referral.

Steps to Use PIP for Acupuncture:

File a Claim

Notify your car insurance provider as soon as possible after the accident, even if the other driver was at fault.

Choose an Acupuncturist

Mountain View Acupuncture is experienced in handling PIP billing and we are skilled at successfully treating the injuries sustained from motor vehicle accidents.

Provide Your Claim Info

Give your PIP claim number and adjuster contact info to your acupuncturist. They’ll submit the bills directly to the insurance company.

Attend Treatment

Keep attending as needed, based on medical advice.
