“Before I became an acupuncturist, I was a patient of acupuncture amazed with the results acupuncture brought me after years of the wear and tear on my body from competitive sports. With an orthopedic surgeon for a father and a nurse for a mother, I’d always had an interest in the healing arts. You could say I grew up in medicine, and when I began to think about a lifelong career, that background coupled with my own experience with acupuncture, drew me toward Traditional Chinese Medicine.”
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Colorado State University and working for a few years in Los Angeles, I decided to pursue my dream of working in medicine. I left my job in Los Angeles and moved to San Francisco to attend the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I completed the four year graduate program in 2004 with a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition, I completed a one-year course in orthopedic acupuncture at Lerner Education at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
“My husband, Brian and I moved to Bend in September 2004, and I started Mountain View Acupuncture, LLC in March 2005. Now that I have been in practice for a number of years, I know with certainty that I made the right career decision. I love working with patients to achieve their healthcare goals and feel honored to be a part of their healing process. Thirty years from now I still want to be practicing. It’s my passion–along with my children.”
“Since my first child’s birth in 2008, my interest in women’s health issues has become stronger. I have completed several courses on treating infertility with acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbs. Over the next few years, I would love to see Mountain View Acupuncture, LLC help more and more women overcome infertility and other problems.”
“In my spare time, when I’m not reading about the latest findings on health, wellness, and supplementation, I enjoy my life with my children, Leila and Drew and my husband, Brian. Before moving to Bend, I had lived and worked in California, attended college in Colorado, and had grown up in St. Louis. When Brian and I moved to Bend after he accepted a position with Deschutes Brewery, we thought we would be here for five years. Now, ten years later, we know that we are here to stay and are enjoying raising Leila and Drew in such a wonderful community. I am learning to cross-country and downhill ski, as well as, enjoy hiking, yoga and consider myself quite the movie buff.”
